Name: HORUS AMULET
Time: c. 600 - 300 BC
Location: Egypt
The Falcon God Horus, one of the most
ancient Egyptian deities, is the son of Isis and Osiris, avenger
of his father's death and protector of kings. The oldest hieroglyphs
use a falcon symbol to portray the concept of god. He is therefore
also a symbol of the Egyptian Pharaoh, a living god, and was
often incorporated into the king's name. When Horus as a Pharaoh
died, he became his own father, Osiris, fertilized his wife/mother
and thus engendered his own rebirth! This Horus Amulet, molded
from the 2500 year old original, was worn as a symbol of justice
and as a protective link with the living god-king.
